Final weeks of NGV Friday Nights and Terracotta Warriors | Cai Guo-Qiang


NGV Friday Nights is in its final weeks for the 2019 Melbourne Winter Masterpieces series. This season has featured the best of Australia’s vibrant musical talent, including exclusive late-night access to the Terracotta Warriors: Guardians of Immortality and Cai Guo-Qiang: The Transient Landscape exhibition, bars and dumplings in the pop-up Hutong Dumpling Bar.

Thandi Phoenix’s voice is powerful, soulful and honest, with songs that blend pop with electronica and raw storytelling. Her powerhouse vocals have seen Thandi perform with Ta-ku and Wafia at the Sydney Opera House, sing in Just A Gent’s triple j’s Like A Version and be called on for sets at Splendour in the Grass, Soulfest and Bluesfest. With band members spread between Christchurch, London and New York, Yumi Zouma are pop’s impossible dreamers. Their instantly poignant and ethereal music, made via Dropbox file-sharing back and forth between locations thrust them into the spotlight with sold-out live performances in Australia supporting Chet Faker, as well as opening for Lorde on her post-Grammy winning homecoming tour. They were also nominated for APRA’s Song of the Year in 2018 for ‘December’.

Hot on the tongues of the global electronic music scene and charming his way to your hearts is Brisbane producer Young Franco. An energetic concoction of house, grime and his signature drum beats, his smiling stage persona, epic jam selections and fantastic original productions win him fans and friends wherever he goes.


Before the terracotta warriors make their journey back to China, the NGV Garden Restaurant hosts a Chinese three-course menu on the closing day of the Terracotta Warriors: Guardians of Immortality and Cai Guo-Qiang: The Transient Landscape exhibition.
